Hello there.
TLDR: is the 1.6 multijet that loud or was the car I was trying out damaged in some way?
I was looking for a newer car to buy, and the 1.6 Multijet Tipo Station Wagon came up my radar. I own a 2004 Stilo with the 1.9 8v engine and I'm quite happy with it, so I would like a car similar to it. But as soon as I started up the Tipo I was trying out, I noticed something unpleasant - the diesel rattl/noise was quite significant, in fact much more intense than in my Stilo, which isn't exactly known to be a quiet car. Could there be something wrong with the car I was trying out, or could the noise be omnipresent on all diesel tipos? It seemed such a step back in refinement it caught me off guard. If it is a common trait of those engines, could enough sound deadening bring it more up to standard with the current cars (such as vag diesels?) or is it just the lost cause. I like everything else about the car but having a tank/tractor engine on loudspeakers under the bonnet really messes with the image of the car. I'd like to ask those of you with the 1.6 engine about your experiences with it.
thanks
