Hi looking some advice, i had a problem with the timing chane on my van and have replaced with a new chane but im wonder the engines locked cams and crank and the pistons are all mid bore but is tdc cylinder #1 on the downstroke or upstroke?

I think you will find if you are only turning the engine clockwise to locate the holes for the locking pins it will only all locate when it is correct. So if it doesn't locate on first revolution of crank, it should on second . Either way gently does it
