Grande Punto The story now, and as it continues

Introduction

EDIT Adding this photo from 4/5/2013, and removing all other pics from this first post to remove the 'ugly' ones of my car from its thumbnail ;) Haha. I'll repost this "1st" post later on :)

1st Photo courtesy of benny279. Cheers pal!

EDIT 2: Decided not to repost, did do, but it looked odd. So plain deleted. Old naff standard 1.4 GP Sound on steel trims anyway ;) Not missing much, but the progression can still be seen.
Reuuk. Right well i've had a quick crack at this saturday, and just went in to have a look at my handy work this morning as i forgot all about it. Well, i like it, finish isn't perfect but for winter steel 15's who cares. Took my entire 300ml can to do this one wheel. So i've bought 6 more off of eBay and will get the other 3 wheels done when they arrive. Its going to look so stupid, but i actually like it more because of that!

Opinions people, this surely has to insight a response from most :p

I LOVE IT! :D

LOL! I didn't even notice this!

Hmm, i did use playing cards, but obviously the spray (all one side) as you can see has settled :p Best check the front of my car isn't the same colour! Eeek

Noted for next time though. N00b at this :slayer:

looks great mate!

you must of used allot! I only needed 1 can 500ml and that would of been enough for all 4 if i was doing the same colour!

where you not tempted to do multi colour like mine haha :D

Yeahhh. The paint kept coming up with little black craters where the paint seemed to literally part like the tide layer after layer. So i kept on spraying. I think maybe i didn't clean the wheel well enough before, i didn't prime (mistake?) IDK, but i'll be cleaning better for the next 3, and certainly masking off the wheel better as i didn't realize how badly the spray can erm....settle? :D

And i wouldn't know what colour to do the other wheels, besides i've already bought 6 more 300ml cans of Ford Venetian Red :slayer: Surely you want to be the only person rockin' the smarty look steelies though, right? I'll go with red, christmassy feeling and all :slayer:

Can't wait to get the other cans and get started!

Yeah as these guys have said, it needs to be at least sanded before spraying. As it is only steelies I wouldn't worry about primer, but if you give the paint a sand it'll stop the spray paint 'parting like the tide' ;)

Bit of sandpaper and some tyre blackening should sort the overspray (y) Personally I quite like it, if winter mode is going to be anything it should at least be fun! Really wish I had a second set of wheels for winter :(

Maybe you should get a sticker made up along the lines of 'FML Winter Mode' lol I cant wait till it's all over and done with tbh, bring on the sunshine!

Sooooo..................

4 Steel Wheels all fitted this afternoon. Will wait until i'm off during the daylight hours we get to take a snap (sunday), looks rather funky from what i can see. The finish on the wheels is poor, i won't lie. I really didn't have the patience to attempt to make it look plush, and the outer edge is AWFUL due to the celotape i used rising when wet, so there is some splodgy black bits around the outside. The wheel weights i removed chipped the paint off when hammered back on, also the hammer took the red off the top of these as i sprayed them red too (bad move?). And there are drips of paint from the poorly heated rattle cans in places. I really wasn't bothered for a 'good' finish, just wanted some red steelies for Chrimbo/Winter :D Thats what i've got though!

My dad followed me in his car on the way back to his after fitting them at another family members dry garage roof, and said they looked oddly very good. It was dark and rainy, so i'll give him benefit of the doubt...daylight viewing might be very different. I wonder what my fellow work buddies are going to think - i'm going to be slaughtered for it i know!

In my honest opinion... I dont like them at all, however I do love the fact that you have had the balls to pick up a paint can and do something yourself. So I'm giving you an A* In effort because you actually did something unlike most people.

Pictures will be up Sunday i promise. Going to make a point of taking my car somewhere that i can try and make it look a little more scenic, rather than just sitting it on the road with my point and click. Hoping the scenic option will ease the harshness of steelies on a car for a photo haha

On a separate note. I've just gone and bought this cheap and cheeky chrome exhaust tip off of eBay for like £7. I don't want a fancy exhaust, but i like being able to see it. Fiat don't want us to be able to see our exhaust's in none sporting models and so this 'should' just make it subtly obvious there is one there :) It might look whack, and if it does i'll just bin it.

As before mentioned, photo's will be available tomorrow for the steelies :yuck:

Haha, thanks :D

Yeahhh i'll always have a crack at something myself if possible. You get a greater sense of pride when you see the finished product if you've done it yourself. Don't get me wrong, i've made a hash of everything i've done to this car first time :yum:
