So, before I have people come and give me quotes on rust removal I figured I should remove the rust as best I could so I wasn't just being given random figures. And I took pitcures
... or maybe its
, not sure yet.
So the picture I took today of the windscreen rust came out badly, but I have a good before picture from the day it got home:
It was quite worrying but after I dug it out there's actually more metal in there than i thought.
That's probably the most expensive bit to have done, but depending on how much gets quoted I might have to just make do with stopping the rust and coming back to it in a year or two time when I have the money to have that properly fixed.
The rest of these are just the other spots, the passenger side sill at the rear is quite bad but it should be an easy fix because it's all flat panels and you can get at it.
The stuff in the rear wheel arches we won't have welded because they're not structural. I'm not particularly impressed at myself either but I really don't have the resources to blow them all on welding just now.
Rear passenger wheel arch, this has been fixed BADLY a number of times:
Passenger sill toward the rear before digging:
After
:
This also goes through to the wall of the sill on the underside of the car with another sizeable hole in it!
Passenger sill toward the front:
This isn't as bad as it looks though as it's largely surface rust, it had just rusted up again before I took a photo.
Rear boot:
Drivers front quarter panel, once again just surface rust but the size of the bubble had me worried:
