Can anyone throw light on the 2.2 engine used in 24 and 25 model year Ducato's and is it now the same engine in all "serval" X290 vans no matter what brand ?

Previously have avoided anything without the Iveco sourced lump but if even the Fiat now has a "puma" engine with all the trouble that brings then I may have to look else where .

I know euro 6 and 6 final is going to be unreliable because DEF and EGR systems just are... no matter what the make of vehicle.... in agriculture and plant the second the warranty runs out it's time for an addblue delete and DPF delete which makes them all run much better and with no problems.... unfortunately not easy on a road vehicle with MOT's

Trying to work out if to stay with and older low mileage camper (08) plate or buy a new one ...

Thoughts and feedback most welcome

From discussion on here, we came to a conclusion from pictures and quoted mildly different capacities/performance figures that the earlier 2.2 Fiat engines from that time period differed from those in the other Sevel versions.

It now looks like all the variants have standardised on the latest 2.2 version used for the last couple of years in the Fiat (possibly to ensure the availability of the associated auto gearbox across the Stellantis range).

It would be good to get a confirmation of this.... and the true origin of the engine , ie Iveco rather than Ford .
If it's correct all of the Stellantis X290 vans use the same power plant and transmission then increasingly it's down to you local dealer which brand you buy.

I have always avoided the Citroen and Pug branded and of course Ford vans because of the engine fit.... and associated puma engine issues compounded latterly by the "wet belt " fiasco .

I see many posts of auto box issues ....is the Stellantis auto box less trouble than the ZF or do we just stick with manual ... it's been around for a long time now and most issues seem sorted .

We currently have 3 options ...

Stick with our 08 van but swap the box for a later version to sort the silly reverse gear ratio.... probably also upgrade to 16 inch wheels so a box with the correct final drive ratio .... has anyone done this and is it simple ( changing the box is easy for me ) anything else need changing ?

Buy a new Swift Carrera with a manual box and a warranty but the interior quality is pretty poor TBH ....it's not exactly assembled by craftsman who care you get the impression when looking at new vans on dealers lot's.... but the 194 fit's our requirements pretty well .

Buy a new van to our spec and get it built exactly to our spec .... but the guy who built ours for himself ( Ferrari restorer ) isn't interested in building another so finding a good company to do it is also a challenge .

Thoughts and opinion's valued .
