Now then. As a few might know, I've been to Sussex and back twice last week in the Selecta. Now normally I drive not as economically as I could do:eek:. 85 in the main (75 by GPS) (on the private road streches).

But this time for about 750-800 miles I stuck to a steady 50-60MPH where the speed limit permitted! And I didn't find it that hard, even though lorrys were overtaking:eek:.

Normally my driving returns around 33-36MPG. and 320miles is the max I've got out of a tank with nedel in 0, but on one fill up with 1/4 of a tank left saw 350 miles!

Now I haven't work out my MPG, but will do it when I get back to college later this week because I have an Excel spread sheet which works it out for me.

I'll post the results as soon as I get them, but was wondering if we should play the guessing game.

I recon my average was about 40-42MPG on these journeys.

Jon.

Thats a dreadful mpg at 60mph, I can average 45mpg at 70mph plus, at your speeds I would see 50mpg.

No, thats average MPG of mine around town and dual carrageway / country road driving with my heavy at times foot.

I've got to calculate my 55MPH MPG on the PC when I get back to college tomorrow as thats where my MPG Spreadsheet is saved.

Re: The great Panda MPG test!

Hi.

Mandapanda 1000cc covers 50 miles per division on the fuel gague (ie 200 miles on half a tank). This is a mixture of Main roads and driving round town.

Not sure what that equates to on mpg but I am estimating about 50mpg.

PS, On our previous Panda an 1108cc Selecta we covered London to Coventry, via Rugby and back to London on £22 of fuel !

Indeed it was

She will also live on in Alan's yet to be named Italia 90 and one of Gina's Panda's too.

Such a shame as she was a good old girl and in good nick too !

She certainly was! I assume it was you who had the doors john? The bloke at the yard said someone had come and got them and a few other bits. Prices were a bit steeper than up here but we got what we needed and a few spares!:) O, I need to PM you a q about the car and a spare I got. Will do it now.

When I was using the Panda as a daily driver last year, it was turning in 36 MPGish on the run backwards and forwards to work (always a killer, it's only about 3 miles each way and mostly stop/start).

Now I've got the Golf as a runaround, the Panda is tucked up back in the garage again, to be brought out on high days and holidays. I did drive it at the weekend, and noticed that it's getting low on juice. Can't remember when I last filled it, I'm guessing it must have been filled at least once this year, but when? Search me.

For comparison, the Golf averages 22 MPG on the work run .

Cheers,

Plug

:eek:Ouch. The Panda cripples me enough at the moment, lol. But that would finish me off:). I still think I'm better of running my 25000mile Auto Panda than a 5 year old Punto or something similar with 50000miles+ on the clock.

Still better than my old Mercedes... that used to do about 17 . But that did have a 300 bhp V8 under the bonnet .

Re: The great Panda MPG test!

:slayer:Hell yea. 51.90 MPG on journey from Norwich to Sussex, Into south London where I drove very uneconimically and then back to Norwich!

9 Pence Per Mile in fuel. Not back compaired to the average of 13 PPM and 34-37MPG. I think it could have been higher though if I didn't go into South London!

I'm doing a 160 mile round trip to pick up a Sisley tonight, the trouble is it's going on a trailer towed behind my Defender - I'm guessing about 15mpg
It won't end up such a good buy at that rate!

I bought the Panda so that I'd have a runabout while I did some major work on the Landy which is my only [four wheeled] vehicle, but the little buggers seem to have taken over!

I get 42-44 mpg from my 4x4 which seems not too bad, about 260 miles before the tank reads empty (there's still loads in it though)

Recently got an Alfa GTV V6 which manages about 22 mpg...... so the panda still sees plenty of use for work commuting!
