Hang on a minute lads, I've had a great idea...

Plans have been brewing behind the scenes for something special to celebrate the sites 10th Birthday. But we think we've hit on something great.

Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th May we'll be heading Oop North. The plan for Saturday is to rendevouz at Fort William for approx 10am before heading over the legendary Applecross road. Saturday evening we'll grab some food in Inverness before retiring for the evening. On Sunday we'll be heading back south as far as Forres, where we'll attending the Vintage Car Day as a club.

An outline intinary is provided on page 8, along with relevant postcodes etc.

So - who's all in?

Full info, as you can appreciate, will follow but it'd be great to have an idea of numbers sooner rather than later so that we can get this event fleshed out.

ahem x2

Nasty cough caused by hanging around cold sheds with strange men lobbing their tools about all weekend....

Tbf I thought itd be nice to use a legendary movie quote to start the thread!

Then use fecking quotation marks -I had to google it btw as I've never seen the Italian Job

Oh and it also helps if you get it right in the first place

Back on topic folks ;)

So far the response to this has been fantastic! Our weekender events are always a great laugh and if you haven't been to one, or it's been a while, then why not make a point of joining us for this one.

Did I add it's the bank holiday weekend as well?

Back on topic if you absolutely insist :D

Yeah, I'm a definite. I've asked my spy to let me know how long it generally takes to get from Aberdeen/Ellon to Fort William

The answer is 3.5 to 4 hrs depending on traffic although she does drive quite a bit slower than me...ach it'll be quiet on a Saturday morning on a bank holiday weekend won't it?

ive booked in for the week of holidays and since i brought up the applecross idea would be ashame NOT to go to it lol :)

What's everyone's plans for digs and stuff this weekend, it's not going to be easy for me to travel to fort william for 10 am and then onto Inverness via the 'road' with a 5 yo in tow. I'm looking at maybe staying in Inverness for 2 nights.

Is there a preferred fiat SCO headquarters where maybe we could get a nice wee discount for a group booking, of say 4/5 rooms.

What's your thoughts?

Boydie

Steve - that's a bugger, but there's always Cupar/ West Coast Rally.

Boyde - I think the more we look into this, the more a stay on the Friday would make sense.

Just wondering if Fort W itself would be a good HQ.

Going to make enquiries in the next week or two and map out.

It's still in discussion however initial thoughts are to head over to the west coast on the Friday rather than leave early on the Saturday. We did think about using a youth hostel but there are other options including a cottage that I know of further north that would sleep 6-8. Yes it would be a trek but at only £40 all in it might be worth it.
