Doh! Re-mapped C'eed Pro... Hmmm theres an idea.

They hold their price well, must be cos of that 5 yr warranty! 07 plate with7000 miles on it, 1.6 diesel is £12,995 at Evan Halshaw

Add 2 - 3 k for a 2litre diesel and the Pro pack at least... expensive... now wheres the Used GPS pages again lol! :D

Cee'd has a 7 year warranty, non?

Sod the badge, if the car's decent I'll drive it.

Yep 7 years but I think the last 2 years are engine and drivetrain only?

Anyhow, yea, I'd have one as well, KIA badge or not, sod the snobbery, and I would put Sumo tyres on the bugger too... heheh sod the tyre snobbery while I am at it!

it shut up the depreciation moaners instantly.

imagine how quickly fiat would go bust if they offered a 7 year waranty.

I know KIA and other far eastern manufacturers have a very tight and stringent QA procedure for their parts suppliers, as we can see from the cost of the car it has a price, FIAT wouldnt be able to fill their "low price, cheap & cheerful" niche if they were to follow suit. But see what it would do to residuals! :D

If I were doing a lot of miles and needed a car for work then I probably would go for something like the Kia. It makes perfect sense - well built, v. long warranty, reliable and I suspect quite cheap to run with a load of bonuses thrown into the deal. And I have to say it looks good too, certainly compared to the monstrosities that they used to produce.

However, just watch the Kias become the Rover of yesterday. You've just retired at 65, you have a life expectancy of 72 as a man maybe a bit more as a woman. So if you buy a Kia then you may never have to worry about your car again because by the time the warranty is up you'll probably be dead anyway. A retired friend of mine used this philosophy and bought a Hyundai Getz. I think it even has free servicing for 5 years too (you may have to pay for parts used though).

Enjoy the European cars while you can because I strongly suspect that in a few years time all cars will be made in China and/ or the Far East. No way can the western world build cars to that standard of the Kias on such a low production budget.

I still love my rattly old Fiat though! :)

And they'll all be a load of crap, built as cheaply as possibly and sold in the new dealer outlets run by poundland.

The only way to compete is to move production to poverty stricken countries (as is already being done by many manufactures) & pay crap wages....Kia have had many pay/rights strikes over the years.

I like the idea of 7 year warranty but am wary (remember daewoo) ...however i'd buy one if I went into taxi driving(y)

Yes I do and they were bought by Chevrolet wern t they :)

Fiat is going down the pan quietly they bring out car and straight away down grade them to make more profit ..the stilo is just one example and the new 500 is in trouble straight away Glyn Hopkins had three in and one has a leak [not sure if its petrol or oil ]and one other has a clutch problem and no one knows what to do about it  good start for a new model isn't it ..KIA is going to become a major player in the market place and at the end of the day it is nothing but badge snobbery that will stop people from buying the car ..

Agree Kia will become a big player but every dog has its day so to speak (peaks & troughs)...aslong as you sell cars & keep bank manager off your back your doing good in this day and age.Fiat are ok,their other 'interests' are also doing surprisingly well and can survive a few lean years if required.I think merging will play a big factor in the future of car manufactuers.

Well, I have now been removed from the Peugeot garage to be placed to work full time on Kia cars in the workshop at the multi franchise dealership I work at.

I have worked for Honda, Vauxhall, Peugeot and now Kia. The Cee'd and the forhcoming Sportage are built here in Europe to European standards as they have poached alot of VAG designers/engineers.

I can honestly say that Kia/Hyundai will become more popular over the next few years.

dont be daft. that didnt happen to textiles or electronics, or indeed any other market that has moved east, so why do you think cars would be any different?

They were bought out by GM and rebranded as Chevrolet for the non-USA markets.
i had a daewoo lanos in 97 when they first came out, my local dealer at the time was a chevrolet dealership, so even before the GM buyout they were using GM's worldwide network. the GM heritage goes back to the early 70s (after toyota dropped out) but it wasnt until 2001 that GM fully bought them out.
