Hello everybody!
I have a Tempra from my father, it's a 1.6 SX.i.e.cat 1991 model.
On the first month of purchase, it had a very serious crash on a turn on the highway. It crashed on the safety bars on its left side while running on a right turn. It lost its' front left wheel during the crash. The wheel, as it detached from the chassis, hit under the left side of the car frame, creating a serious deformation of the frame, causing the front windscreen to brake. The reason for the crash was my father overspeeding...
Anyway, since the repair was made, I never took a look into the repaired part of the chassis which is under the drivers feet. Recenlty I freaked out
discovering that the chassis is quite rusted and that the repair was of very bad quality (resonable, since it was not repaired by authorised service personel)
I want to fix the chassis, but I cannot think of any proper solution.
-Should I cut out this corner of the car and replace it with a new one?
-Should I clean out the rust, repair it properly on a specially designed matrix,
and then reinforce the chassis with roll-bars?
-Should I dump the chassis and buy a non-crashed, and non-rusted one? (!)
PLEASE give me a hint... If there is anyone with a Tempra that has sustained similar heavy damage, and knows any proper fix method that was applied for his car, I am really in the need for ideas! Thank you in advance...
PS: I really love this car and I want to keep it, but with a chassis in such a bad condition, I think it will have a short life...
