I need to replace my B's front number-plate for the MOT, as the old one has started to delaminate and there's crud showing through (it was an advisory at the last MOT). The number-plate bracket is so crude that I'm tempted to remove it and attach a stick-on number-plate directly to the bumper. Has anyone done this, and do you reckon it would meet the UK regulations? I know that the rules are less strict for pre-73 classics (hence all those E-Types, Elans, etc, with plates on the bonnet), but I see lots of Mk 1 MX5s with stick-on front plates, so presumably they're not a complete no-no, provided the size and spacing is OK, and they are reflective?

Hiya ,

A great alternative which fits perfectly is to get a plate holder of the porsche 996
It looks so much better. :)

Ooh, that's much neater. Bet they cost an arm and a leg, though...

Edit: just checked, and the price isn't too bad. Did you have to drill fresh holes in the bumper to mount it?

Hiya , yes I believe it was under 20 euros and just a couple of holes will not hurt the B. :) If i remember a little work with a file perfected how it curved and fitted to the bumper.
