Technical Stereo steering wheel controls

Just picked up a Knaus motorhome conversion, using a Ducato 2.3 base van. It came fitted from the factory with a Pioneer AVIC-F980DAB-C head unit, but the steering wheel controls don't work with it and the dealer said they never would. Sounds like nonsense to me, as I know most units can be fitted with a simple adaptor to enable the controls.

However I'm struggling to find the right one as there are literally hundreds. Any help? The van is a new 17 plate.

I used https://incartec.co.uk/ for my last van, both they and Connects2 are UK based suppliers of kits which should allow the head unit to talk to the steering wheel controls. Also look at these threads (&others) for people who have done it recently using a german sourced adapter:

I am looking at installing a similar head unit in my van (2016 model X/290 Benimar), I spoke to RAM Mobile in Wakefield who said they would have no problem doing it for me.

When I used incartec, they were very helpful in identifying what I needed, at the time the Connects2 didn't work on my van (2011 Boxer).

Thank you both! Looks like we might have a fix in the works. Installation itself shouldn't be a problem, just finding the correct CANBUS adaptor.
