My Punto steering rack rod end replace, the rack lock nut look very poor. I decide to go the Fiat Dealer get a new nuts, shocking me the price is £7.99 for each with VAT:eek:. I went to B&Q I couldn't find a same size. Confuse with number like M6, M8 I don't know how to measure by this number?
is anyone know the size??

m5, m6, m8 refers to the size of the hole usually in MM
So an M8 is an 8mm hole :)

But what you will need is the thread pitch as well, as thats the "agressive" look of the teeth

I've just done cracking a Vaux'sh..... today ready for tracking soon

1 side a piece of cake
the other - i've ended up heating the nut up quiet hot and working it back and forth to clean it up

A good wire brush of the exposed threads is a good start
Followed up by a soak with penatrating oil
Failing that - heat, that usually works best on track rod nuts / ends

When you buy a New track rod END - the nut for the ball joint is usually provided, and normally the Track rod's nut is good to be used many times

Ziggy

Measure thread diameter with ruler on track rod end.

8mm (or very close to) diameter is M8

You should then measure the pitch using a thread gauge, or calliper.

It's probably the normal coarse thread rather than fine.
