Hi all, In the thick brown stuff again. Starter motor is caput and Fiat don't supply anymore. Van is 1996 Ducato 1.9td. The part I need is Fiat part No. 7726946 or exchage No. 71721296 whatever that is. If anyone has one, or knows the whereabouts of one, I would be eternally grateful. Here's Hoping. Allthe Best, Ian.:bang:

Just put the number into eBay and sort by price including postage they're available from Germany for about £100 including postage. Should be available through your local motor factors too Lucas and hella make them.

Hi again, Thankyou All, so far, for your helpful contributions. Further to this ongoing saga, today I put my voltmeter on the solenoid positive feed and earth. With ignition on, I could not detect any voltage. This, I think, could indicate a faulty relay. Does anyone know the whereabouts of said relay? I realise I appear to be clutching at straws but trying to work on a 1996 1.9td without any sort of manual is as easy as trying to plait fog. Any help is always gratefully recieved. Ian:bang:

Hi All, Just tried tester again with negative to different earth location. Registered 12.59 volts so it may not be the relay after all. Cheers, Ian:bang:

In conclusion! Just bought a replacement starter from Ebay. Arrives on Monday. My first, ever, Ebay purchase. £82.50. Local Wilko Motosave lined up to do fitting, £50. Hopefully, this will be an end to my woes (watch this space). Either way, Thanks all for your help and advice. Ian.:D

Hi Again, Starter motor arrived as promised and is now fitted and working. For all of you who favour the older M/H, the starter was supplied by a firm called QX Components based in the Manchester area. Hope this is of help to anyone who faces the same problems of supply that I do. Happy Camping, Ian. :D
