Hi all,

I have a Palio Fire 16v 1.0 (2001) and I have a bit of a problem.

I had the previous starter motor replaced several months ago when it would turn but wouldn't start the engine.

It was replaced with a secondhand unit as the garage didn't have a new unit in stock, and I needed to have to have my car fixed ASAP.

Now, as of late, the replaced starter engine sometimes fails to turn at all. It seems to happen randomly; I turn the ignition, the panel lights up, but that's it. The engine doesn't turn.

The battery is ok (I tested it with a voltmeter ) so I understand it may be faulty cables or a faulty switch terminal...

However, I would like to know WHERE the starter motor is located, so I can investigate it. I know how it looks like, but can't figure out where it is.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Sometimes the starter motor is located below the engine near the battery, maybe it needs cleaning since it's a second hand or some of its inner components needs replacing, check the car fuses too,

But maybe the starter is good, maybe it's the fuel or ignition system which makes those hard starts

But please let a professional clean the starter and fix it if possible first, very dangerous high currents and voltages.
