Speed Camera Question?

Speed Camera Question?

Yep. Doesn't sound like it, because only a section of the road has been resurfaced, and that makes up about half of the length of road used for calibration ( see other side as a guide ).

I think what someone said before about used for overtaking may be right.

Ahhh, well cheers for all your replies. At least I've got the pics and the date for peace of mind in case they do come back to me, although since there are no lines on that side of the road, and haven't been for some time I can't see it. Must have been the guy on the other side of the road!

If the lines were for people trying to dodge the cam by driving on the wrong side of the road they would start a bit later and end later in lanes further away from the camera:

C
----||||||||||----
-------||||||||||----
----------||||||||||----

C=GATSO
The above is an attempt at representing how the lines are arranged for multiple lanes of traffic, a 2 laned Dual Carriage for example.

If you driving towards the GATSO it can flash you if you are speeding but you should not recieve a FPN for it regardless of you speed.

Hehe I think you might have broken the highway code though by the look of the position of where your fine looking Doblo is parked! ;)

that camera only takes images of the back of your car as you travle past, it does not take pics of cars comming towards it. if it was one that takes pic off cars going towards it then then it would not flash as the flash stands teh chance of dazzling driver especially at night these the forward facing ones arecalled travello and can be spotted by having a large redish pink lens facing you.

I couldn't park any futher back it was an entrance to a school and the gates were closed :p I thought there might have been a different name for the ones that do oncoming traffic, and no reddish lens! Cheers for that!

**EDIT**: Just checkout a website on the net that explains what each camera does, and yes the Gatso DOES NOT do oncoming traffic, only the backs of cars. The Travello is the fixed camera that works from the front of your car, and uses infra-red technology instead of a flash not to dazzle oncoming drivers.

We must have different ones over here then CheeseMaster :)

Well this one is mounted in the central reservation, and nearly blinded me when it went off :D

They've also taken to driving around and parking in mobile "gatsos" which have a cut out section of the rear bumper ( covered in smoked glass ) which takes flash photos of you ( front on again! ) from any point on the road.

Over here the Gendarmes hide behind trees, phone boxes etc to catch you speeding. It just isn't worth the aggro.
