Dear Forum,

I need to replace the spark plugs on my 500 1.0 mild hybrid.
According to the service manual this should be made every 2 years or 30.000km, which seems a bit strict, but anyway sooner or later, must be done.
I want to do this myself, as the service cost is too elevated in the workshop.

However, when I went to some spare part shops to ask for the spark plugs, they told me only the official dealership have them.
The model, according to the service manual is NGK LMAR8K-9S, although the guy from the shop told me other reference: 55260260
Fiat dealership charges 31€ each, for a total of 93€ for the set.
I guess they are iridium? I don't know because the datasheet does not say it.

My question is, do you know if there is an alternative spare part, which is more affordable? I'm looking to buy a reputable brand. I know this engine has been sold in South America for some years, so I hope there are alternatives.

(For reference, the spark plugs for my 1.2 Renault Clio were ~8€ each).

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I've done a quick internet search for you, and it seems like you need Fiat part no 55260260, but do double check my work as I don't have a car with that engine myself - perhaps remove one and see what markings are on it.

They look like regular long reach plugs, not iridium; I'd agree 31 euros each is beyond ridiculous - does that price include fitting?

In the UK, Shop4parts have them in stock for about half that, and I'd trust them to be genuine.

They're also used in the same engine in the Panda, so should be easy enough to find in Europe.

If you search that part number on the internet you'll find plenty for sale for less than that; but beware of fake parts.

At least you only need 3!
