Just modified and fixed my spare wheel mechanism for good!
I'm lucky to have access to a lathe which makes it an easy fix.
Got the idea from an other members posting.
The retaining clip at the end of the knackered lowering cable and internal gubbings were removed by opening out the shroud (quite easy its softish).......and I inserted a bar of steel, fixing it by an allen screw.
then fixed in a piece of 16mm stud.
Turned a nylon washer to retain the wheel (put a slot on the side so you dont have to unwind it all the way down)
Then made a block/nut instead of having to carry a spanner. :slayer:
Hope the above makes sense and appreciate most people wouldn't be able to get on a lathe but anyway,,,,,,,,,,,a really simple mod that eliminates that stupid cable effort from fiat
