Nice snappy title...

He a gent from Singapore but no-one replied, he was wanting to pick up a mechanism from Italy...anyway, time passed..
So to today.. I bought the standoffs and bolted them under the car, all good. I bought a carrier mechanism from a scrapyard on ebay - what a pile of sh**e that was. £50 wasted.
Fitted it and attempted to wind...zippo. I removed it and took it to pieces. It would seem that it's compulsory to wind this ONLY with a wheel hanging on the cable as otherwise the cable gets unbelievably tangled inside the casing.
Guess that means you fit the spare then wind the flat one back up under the car to maintain that tension on the cable.
For once I've found 2 on ebay (brand new) for under £100. Fiat part number 51910321 Clicky here for your £95.99 bargain..(free postage too
)
Pics attached just showing what's inside the winder mech in case you were interested!
Also shows the mess when it's been wound light (I imagine that's why it got tangled as you need resistance for the cable to stay entertained, going the right way - maybe you can hold tight to the
cable as you wind it in if you just want to park the wheel in the boot for getting a repair.)
It's fiendish stuff to unwind as the frays are very sharp..
