Sony xperia mini occasionally does not connect

I have recently replaced my Sony x10 mini with a Sony xperia mini and find that it doesn't always connect to blue and me automatically. The first I know of the problem is when the phone rings and I can't answer. If I attempt to make a call it says it is searching for device or something like that. Turning the phone off and on doesn't cure it, I have to take the key out of the ignition and re-start.

P.S. Phone model code is st15 and I'm running android 2.3.4. And blue and me 5.5 I think.

massive bump, its been playing up a lot recently.
