Technical Someone has "tinkered" with my MAF!

Afternoon team, hope all are well...

I bought a new MAF unit to replace my defunct one and whilst looking at what was involved at changing over I noticed the X2 10mm retaining bolts holding the MAF to the air box just spin and don't seem to undo..

Also noticed that the airbox plastic lid directly above the MAF has been broken off and the lid join to the airbox bottom section is exposed.

It looks as if someone has already had a go at ripping the MAF unit out before I bought the car.

Looks like some home modification will be required unless I'm missing something like the 2 10mm bolts are actually secured from inside the airbox by nuts? Does the airbox front section lid actually come off or are, as I fear, the 10mm bolts are just self tapers that have stripped?

Yes the MAF is held on by self tapper

Just lever up with a thin blade as you unscrew it

Lid number 2 is also held on by self tappers if that's the part you mean

Perfect thanks Koalar, I was going to try and lever it out as I undid the slipping bolts as my next step but wanted to check first the thing was nutted up from inside. Appreciate your help as always.
