Now that we’re into our 100deg+ temperatures here in Phoenix, my 1971 Cinquecento will be parked after 9am.
Being my first summer with it, I’m planning on a carb rebuild, larger oil pan, install a electric fan in the engine compartment (to purge hot air from the space) and replace my shroud fan.
There are two types of fans - The Hamster wheel type and the impeller type.
Any recommendations?
Differences in performance?

There is another forum member that is better qualified to answer this as he has used both fan types. He did say that he felt the alloy impeller type gave an improved air flow.

Hi OSW, regarding the cooling fan on the engine, the Alloy impeller variants are stronger and better balanced, and able to take higher rpm in use. In my experience the standard metal cooling fans that are sold are not well made - unless you can find an OEM fitment (in good condition) from another car. I have a small axial flow cooling fan fitted onto my oil cooler, this will draw air out of the engine bay, but my engine lid is fixed in the horizontal position to aid cooling too. The 5" axial cooling fan will draw or push 307 CFM depending on variant - other sizes can achieve much more, BUT beware of the current draw when the fan starts, I use a separate cable to supply mine with a 20 Amp fuse don't rely on the original wiring loom for supply. It will depend on what you wish to achieve, propping the rear door open even slightly will improve things.
If you have any more questions please ask.
Ian.
