I bought GL4 Plus gearbox oil from shop4parts via Amazon. But they sent me GL4.

The car is supposed to have GL4 Plus and thats what is in it now, I know this for certain because I put it in.

Should i send it back? Will it make a difference doing a small top up of maybe 200ml with this?

Both these oils are 75W-85, so i'm not sure what the Plus is for.

I would call them and ask if it will be okay. Or maybe email, they are very good at getting back via email - if you want it in 'writing'.

Were you originally planning on drain and refill or only topping up? If drain and refill as a once in a blue moon task, I would probably send it back and get what you feel is right so that it's not at the back of your mind that you ruined it if suddenly an issue pops up.

plus could mean anything, if I had to bet I'd say it only adds more compatibility to the original spec, but too risky to chance in case

I still have some Tutella gearbox oil from 2016 and my Panda... I can smell it now just remembering. Yuck! Also from Shop4Parts, only place that sold it in the UK I think at the time. Nice people to deal with.

I changed the clutch recently and threw the old gearbox oil away. I had 1.3 litres of spare in the house and put that in, but it needs 1.5 litres, so i'm a little short and it needs filling.

I haven't not decided what to do, so its just sat there. I'll probably send it back though, just in case the seals start rotting.

I don't mind the smell of gearbox oil, as long as there's not a lot of it around... :)
