get the frontseats from a y10 and built them into your panda. they fit and are much better. look for yourself.
i did that with my 02 panda and used seats from a 92 y10.

greetings from germany. :D:D:D

Agreed they fit, and support you better when cornering...

But.

I find the seating position slightly higher, and the depth of the seat not quite so much as the standard ones
( length of the bit you sit on ).

It doesn't cause me any grief, but I think taller drivers might find it a bit tight, and some shorter drivers do find the pedals a bit of a stretch, and have their right foot at an awkward angle.
(My wife complains about it...)

I'm going to roam about the scrapyards looking for a decent driver's seat, since my one's literally broken down[:0]B)!I think the weldings are a weak point of the structure...and my weight is only 70kg:I!If John found the Y10's seat position slighly different from the Panda's I'd guess the wheel and pedals are not in the same distance in those cars...anyone knows this better[?]BTW is it a good idea to look for a Y10 seat, minding I don't want to change the passenger's one too?

P.s. my worry's not about the poor support offered by the Panda seats, but the poor quality of the padding , since this is the 2nd seat we throw in 6 years:(!

IMHO

The seats are made slightly differently to try and get some boot space on the Mk2 Y10.

The original version of the Y10 was great, but had virtually no boot space.

The second version had the back seat shortened, and moved forward a few cms to the front position the original Panda had for its ( two position) back seat.
The font seat is also slightly shorter to try and get some leg room in the back.

BTW Enzo. If you know an economic way of getting a seat from the UK to Italy, I have the (UK passenger, Italian drivers) seat still in the garage here... It's a funny blue horizontal pattern.

I think the shipping costs from your isle to my peninsula will exceed the price a reasonable scrappy asks for a "decent" seat (dimensions&weight)[:(!]...I say decent because I know Panda is usually an heavily and careless used car unlike the bigger ones, so...B)!

I thought it was along shot, but worth a try.

My point was that UK passenger seats have very little use, and I didn't know if you knew anyone in transport..

The seats in my Modded Panda came from a Y10, better still they have the Fila logo on the seat back. The rear seat also splits 60/40 making the rear load space even more flexible.
On the down side, the fabric is beginning to wear and I think it will be almost impossible to find another to match.
Happy Pandering.

It's interesting that you got the rear seats to fit.
Mine wouldn't:
they were from a "Mk2" Y10, and were too short to locate on the pegs. I presume yours were from an early one??

Hi there,

I own a Lancia Y-10 Fila, the seats were terrible but 'luckily' I had Y-10 Fire with a reasonable interior for a transplant.

It was only after fitting the front seats that I discovered that the rear fittings had changed, and by this time the donor car was on its way to the scrapyard.

The result was funky neon red Fila rear seats - and more conservative coloured seats in front.

So anyway the best option that I have found for worn seats is good quality covers. Spend some time with a needle and thread and the results can look good.

Y-10's have a 'revolutionary' seating lifting mechanism that provides more of an opening than standard Panda seats. It was one of the ways the Y-10 justified it's tag as a 'luxury' vehicle. It will be this mechanism that makes the seat sit at a different height. It may be possible to hack out the panda mechanism and fit it to a y10 seat.

But then you could try that with the seats from another car too!

With the rarity of donor cars in scrapyards these days covers will save time and effort.

Fix It Again Tony!

On the subject of worn Fila seats - the door pocket material was the same and so may be used as the basis for a patch.

Great idea, I hadn't thought of that, just need to find some light blue material. On the down side, Y10s are rarer than hens teeth around here.
I do like your Y10 cool link, some good pics there as well as all the technical stuff, and the cars for spares.... I wonder if they've got some seats?

Is your blue material a small (7mm?) square chequered pattern, light blue/darker blue by any chance?

As it happens I have a set of rear (short fitting) Y10 seats in the pattern described above - they are really just taking up space in my garage...

BTW I got my set of seats from here in the for sale/wanted section from the man himself ( follow "mail me" link).

I got my seats a year or so ago. Then, he had what looked to me like a graveyard of Y10s, but his comment was "I haven't got very many at the moment!"

His pricing seems fair to me, and the seats I got are fine - but I may have been lucky with what was there at the time.

[:(!][:(!]...is possible I couldn't find a Panda seat in the scrappys around my town?It happenedB), but I solved the problem by rebuilding the weldings of the U-shaped bar bolted down the seat, and now it's perfect, as I don't sink in the padding:D.

I'll never spend more gasoline to go to these sad places, atleast not for a Panda:)!

I've finally got around to comparing the Panda (post 1987) and Y10 front seats, and while it must be said I didn't get the tape measure out, it looks to me as if the mechanism is the same.
The height and depth difference appears to be down to the extra padding in the "luxury" seat:)

As has been said many times: the front seats fit without hacking, the back seats from later Y10s don't.
