Technical Sealant for water pump.

Hello. I'm replacing my water pump (head gasket replacement) and am wondering what sealant can be used. Haynes manual says to use an RTV sealant. I have a tube of Hylomar Universal blue Gasket compound. Can this be used instead?

no I don't think so, that one is a non setting compound.

What you need is the silcone sealant type of compound , I used Solvol instant gasket, it's like a blue silicone sealant , just put a bead of it all around the pump face.

The most time consuming part is removing all of Fiat 's RTV from the joint faces.

Why ? the op wants to fit a water pump , RTV sealant is recommended which is a silicone sealant.

Hylomar Universal I believe was used for doing roller engines but im not 100%

any car shop even halfords will sell RTV sealant, don't use blue hylomar
