Being that our cars are so small, I would imagine they’re not too costly to sandblast. Has anyone done this recently in the US? If so, care to share what your cost was?

A local shop estimated $1,400 for sandblast and primer. I’ve used this shop before and am confident in their work.

Although in the UK.. we are looking at blasting shells..
without going into all the details... main issues with dry blasting is the risk of panel distortion..
so the Quick and cheap guy may not take the care needed to avoid heat build up...
Chemical strip... well thats a very long story....
cost wise I have heard that if you have a bare tub with no front wings/panel or rear wings this can be done for about £350...
a big issue is any underseal, some companies will not remove this (if they do it can double the costs) or insist you do it..

But something to consier that we are looking at is Cold Galvenising... using a zinc coating.. the company that makes the product will actually allow a warranty to be given if applied under their explicit instruictions... (getting those instructions is not as easy as asking them!!)
The coating may be treated like any normal primer base coat and over painted with any std automotive paints...
