Hello. This my first post. ( I currently have a Fiat 500L MPW, and have had 4 previous Fiats ) I am currently looking into buying a Weinsberg Carabus 600k 2020 model campervan on a Fiat Ducato. Ideally I would like to replace the single seat to a double passenger seat to take the seated belts from 4 to 5 which also matches the number of births. The seats are widely available as well as the swivel bracket for this seat ( the one I have picked is from a company called Custom Design) Does anyone have experience in doing this and any related advice. Much appreciated in advance.

Speak to the company building the camper to ask what the options for doing what you want are.

Ok thanks for this the camper is already built with the single passenger chair.

Hi no it’s a standard lwb van conversion which has one passenger seat so I guess it is possible

If you are buying a seat from a specialist they should provide you with all the fitting instructions/parts you need.

May I suggest that the seat fixings and the manner in which it is fitted and the associated seat belts and fixings are safety critical , please do not take any risks at all.

The vehicle will almost certainly have at least one passenger air bag make sure the distance from the seat back to air bag is not too little when seat fitted.

Check with your insurer what the implications are with your insurance before you modify your vehicle, it could prove costly and difficult.

I have looked at the customshop design website. Their swivel mount is designed to fit the floor of a standard van fitted with a double seat.

If the camper company in modifing the floor of the van to fit their very nice single seat has not damaged/removed the dual seat mounting points in the floor then it may fit correctly.

Bear in mind the drivers seat in the camper is a posh one and may be wider than standard so may foul the twin seat when it is swiveling to face rear.

If the floor to rear of front passenger seat is higher than floor passenger seat is fixed to then a twin seat won't swivel.

It may be worth asking customshop designs if they have previously fitted/provided such a swivel base for your exact camper model.

Vans come with a double seat and converters usually want a single so you can step through front to back. So there is usually glut of double passenger seats on ebay and they go cheap. Fabric won't match but you can get seat covers.
