Thanks Shadyman Payment sent.![]()
Shadey,
This is forward planning on my part (at least 2/3 months down the line),
I see you say you change the bushes on the multiwagon for £200, Is it possible to do this in a day. I would travel from Huddersfield in order to get it done , I could help or just go off on a wander for the day. Is this something that you would do ?
Nigel
hi read about re placing axle bushes on stilo forum and someone mentioned height needs to be measured before and after fitting . can anyone explain this as to what, where to measure and why will height possibly change.![]()
thanks shadeyman much appreciated info . ever changed gear selector on stilo if so any tips , please:worship::worship:
I have a Multiwagon rear axle with brand new bushes already installed forsale.

You could do as Muppet1 did and just bolt on a complete axle.
Or if you prefer contact me via PM and I'll give you a price to supply and fit original Fiat bushes to your axle.![]()
Have PM'd you Shadeyman![]()
As you can see on page 7 there is no clear explanation "Why" but my guess would be:
The axle moves up and down so the bushes will be twisted in both up and down directions. By measuring and tightening the bushes to a set ride height the bushes are tightened in a central postion allowing for equal movement in both directions.
That was something I couldn't get my head round either, but I figured that if you jacked both sides of the beam until it lifted the car of the axle stands that's where the car would sit. Then torqued the bolts up, that way as shady says the bush is tightened in a central position allowing it to twist equally whether the rear wheel was loaded or unloaded
Just checked my inbox, no new messages.
I can deliver the new axle and collect your old axle if you want me to?
Hey Shadeyman, i replied to the PM you sent me this am
Just checking you received it![]()
Only problem I can see, is that the Service News Bulletin only shows the ride height for the MW. The saloon versions seem to ride lower than the MW.
At the top of the Service News Bulletin it says: applies to Stilo "ALL" versions.
The diagram of a Multiwagon is just an example, the same basic measurement applies to all models.
"H" varies with each model so is not specific to the Multiwagon.

They take the axle off and send it to a machine shop to have the bushes fitted. If the Fiat dealer doesn't know, then my guess is that the machine shop doesn't know either. Probably a few people driving around with incorrectly fitted bushes.
