I need to replace my instrument cluster and wondered if anyone in the Southend, Essex area has multi ecu scan to write the mileage to the second hand cluster that I buy. Don't really have the use or money for the software at the moment I'd be really grateful.

I hear that if the previous cluster has a lower mileage you can set the higher mileage so it matches the body computer then proxi align it after.

My cluster has many lights come on when i indicate right and also some are dimly lit when the cluster is powered.

I have bought one with 5600 miles, my car has 70k on it but I need to put the higher mileage into the new cluster with MES before proxi alignment.

Well at least I think so, don't think the car will take it on its own.

From what I understand about Multiecuscan, you can reset the mileage HIGHER but not lower, so you should be ok moving it forwards to 70k.

I'm not sure that if you set the mileage to 999,999miles and then it flips back to zero the following day, whether you can then move it forward a tad to put a lower mileage than you have actually done.

Somehow, I doubt you can do that, because everyone would be doing it. :D

Regards,
Mick.

That is exactly what happened on our old TA, the car was only a year old but mercifully, still under warranty. Fiat dealer replaced the instrument cluster, a modified slighty different one to the original. Very glad we didn't have to pay for it!

My car is a 58 - 2008 so no chance of them replacing it so I'll have to go about it myself.

I have bought one from a 2014 car on eBay but I don't have multiecuscan hence post

New cluster expected to arrive tomorrow, I will post my findings as I fit it.

Thinking about making a guide to so will take pictures throughout.

It really is. It's taken me quite a while and I still have an issue with the brakes binding which I'm hoping to sort out this week. It's a 63 plate and is now like a new car again. Still smells new now the smell of paint has subsided.

It was good to take the photographs and look back on them.

Used AlexGS' guide here, for guidance of removal and as typecastboy says is a piece of cake.

Just like to report that changing the speedo was successful and my light issues are sorted!

Just need to correct the mileage and I will be golden.
