Hi All

I have a new issue with my 2016 Panda Cross. I turned the radio on this morning (FM initially) to be greeted with a rapid tapping noise through the speakers (like a tinny machine gun) with no speech or music in the background. I ran through all FM channels and got the same noise. I switched to MW and it was the same. I then switched to MEDIA and played 5 Live through the BBC Sounds App on my phone and that worked, but I can still hear a very feint, slower tapping in the background.

I think I have the Uconnect system rather than the Blue & Me system if that makes any difference and I’ve done a search on the forum but can’t find any threads with a similar issue.

Any ideas? I there anything I should check? So far I’ve only checked that the aerial is still there (it is) and for some reason I thought I’d see if there was any signs of moisture inside the car in case there might be any water ingress somewhere causing the issue (there’s no sign of any water/moisture).

Appreciate any insight any of you might have!

Thanks

It would be worth checking around the aerial and its mountings to the roof. There is a small amplifier built into the base of the aerial, and so a thin power lead as well as the actual aerial cable connected to it. These are prone to damage if, for example the aerial is badly bent (I damaged mine putting a long plank on the roof bars), or if water leaks in around the rubber seal between the aerial and the roof.

(By the way), if you have u connect it will say this on the radio, just above the CD slot, and have a USB socket on top of the dash. If the older Blue&ME, it will have a USB slot with a sliding cover near the gear-lever, with the Microsoft Windows logo on that cover. )

Thanks Herts Hillhopper! Strangely, everything was back to normal this morning when I got in the car. I think your theory of water ingress around the aerial might be right and I assume it’s dried out hence back to normal. There are no obvious signs of a leak or damage though.

Its definitely the UConnect that I have.

Thanks again.
