Hello,
Yesterday the engine light came on, which the handbook suggests is something to do with the fuel injection.
Is this something only a Fiat garage will look at… I’m dreading the ££££ for them to even look at it.

Also, for a while now have a triangle with exclamation sign on the dasboard plus start stop unavailable message.

Hi. I would Dip the oil level first. I had this and on topping it up the light stayed on for about an hour and a few stop starts later it went off without connecting an OBD reader. Otherwise it would be OBD to find any recorded codes. I'm sure others will be along soon with other advice.

Hi and welcome :)

Engine light could be anything. Any symptoms?

As above, connecting an OBDII scanner to read the codes would be a start.

Indy garages will do this for a fee, but it's a useful thing to be able to do yourself, some good suggestions here:
S/S unavailable is usually symptom of weak battery or earth. Try fully charging the battery, also thoroughly cleaning the battery terminals and connections can help.

Well, I have checked the oil and level is fine.
Oddly, both of the issues (engine light / start stop message) have disappeared on their own!
Perhaps it is something to do with the car having been parked for 3 weeks, though a bit strange that the start/stop message popped up after about 5 days of driving, and the engine light after 9 days of driving.

I spoke too soon…. It’s come back.
I’ve had a mechanic friend put one of those diagnostic computers on it, and it turns out it is the DPF pressure pipe has a leak. So a big bill is on the way 😩

The rubber hose between the sensor and the metal fixings on the DPF you mean ? Shouldn't be that expensive. If it's the low pressure side (right hand one on the sensor) a bit of fuel hose will probably be fine

Yes, Imbelieve it is the rubber hose…
Shouldn’t be any more than £15-£20.. However…. No-one sells it on its own! You have to buy the whole kaboodle at £200

Ring shop4parts, and see if they can supply / advise

They are the forums recommended parts supplier

As others have suggested

There Is often an alternative route

I sent my neighbour to a local Hydraulics company

They made a new hose for £40

Probably better than the £700 car part
