Hi, and thanks for adding me to this forum. I have a 2009 Qubo 1.4 petrol ( Vroom! ) which has recently had the dash warning light come on and the error 'check stop lights' . This happens when I press the brake soon after each startup. So I checked all the rear lights - all OK - I replaced the stop lights anyway, but the problem persists. I bought a cheap ODB reader which doesn't seem to work with my car. It says 'the conditions are not met - DTC's have not been cleared" or 'the selected mode is not supported' . I'm not very familiar with ODB's but assume any ODB2 reader should work with this vehicle? I'd be happy to spend more on a reader if that's the issue. Any thoughts very welcome!
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

No, not every obd reader will work with any vehicle.

Same of the software. FIAT dedicated software which allows you to do almost everything on the FIAT is MultiEcuScan or AlfaOBD. I've also read here that there's a variant named MaxiEcuScan which allows you to connect to other makes. Probably part of them. Car manufacturers will try to limit those, which is normal from their point of view.

Software is only a half. The other one is the interface. That would be different depending on the system on which you plan to install the software. Windows / Android / iOS.

I'd check the multiecuscan.net website to have more information.

I'm personally using MultiEcuScan installed on my windows PC with a STN1170 bluetooth interface (dedicated for FIATs and Fords) for full options servicing (including key programming, proxy alignment, airbag, pneumatic suspension etc) or a KKL cable for the ECU. The same STN1170 interface on the android phone with CarScanner and Torque apps to clear the codes on the way and read basic engine parameters in live. I own a 2011 Ducato, which is more or less same generation as your Qubo. The multiecuscan website should tell you what modules the software would be able to connect to.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't realise it could be this complicated! So it might be a job for my local garage. MultiECUscan seems to be PC only, and I'm not a PC user. Cheers, Ian.

There is a iOS version for sure. You have to check on their website.
Interesting reply from Mike at Gendan on the subject :

That looks to be the same system as the Grande Punto (the clocks look identical), where the bulb warning system operates independently of the diagnostic system.

If it’s reporting a brake light bulb, that usually points to a resistance fault – either the bulb is not offering enough resistance for the monitoring circuit to think the bulb is working (aftermarket LED bulbs often cause this), or there could be a wiring fault leading to or from the bulb.

The Foxwell NT530+ should work with the vehicle, but given the above, there may not be any fault codes for it to read.

Best is cheap ELM327 v1.5 or 2.2+, chip 18F2480/25k80 + FTDI. In your case need yellow adapter for some ecus.
FES/MES or AlphaOBD.
