hi all :)

im wanting to upgrade my original punto mk2 3door speakers, all of them as i have just poped my 2 front speakers cos i listen to very bassy music:devil:

anyway what size speakers fit??

at front in the doors and at rear at the side of the parcel shelf thers 2 smaller ones, what size??

aslo is ther any point of me upgrading my tweeters?? not sure what tweeters actually do lol

Take them out an measure them.
 
My Sporting came with uprated 340w front speakers (goodness knows where they were got from) they were a 6 inch diameter and fitted flush in the door :) and the previous owner also installed 340w 6x9s in the rear parcel shelf. It would cause yours to ring :devil: Do you intend usind the original space for the rears or going down the 6x9 route?

original space mate, i want to know the power (watts) of my original speaers will they be same??

can i put more watt speakers in ad use the same wiring??

cani upgrade the watt in door speakers without using an amp??
 
get a decent component set up front mids and tweeters powered buy amp in the boot then get a nice sub in the boot powered by either the same amp if its good enough or another one sound deaden will help loads and thats all you need unless you wanner really get into it

also check the ICE section for speaker sizes and you can find out alot more

sorry but i have no idea about speakers, what is a component setup??

i was going to buy a set of door speakers, set of rear speakers and a set of tweeters, is that no good, im not going for sub just yet mate thatll come later(y)

Once you go down that route youll never go back :D Tweeters for high frequencies, big speakers for the mids and subs for low, obviously :p

Thats what my Punto came with theyre clearly aftermarket effort (no manufacturer would want theyre customers deaf) they worked well and now I have them in the Bravo along with 220w for the rears. The wirings all fine on both cars so you should have no reason to worry :D

Forgot to add, you can have the best speakers in the world but you need the head unit to go with them (y)

As far as I know the 3 and 5 door speakers are the same. I have a 5 door...
Front door 165mm diameter (6.5"), Parcelshelf: 80mm. With an adapter, you can fit a 100mm speaker in the parcelshelf.
I changed mine to a set of Alpine 80w RMS front and rear, with matching tweeters (also f&r). Simply replaced the original ones in front, and used an adapter for the rear. Front tweeters slotted into original place and rear tweeters fitted new. As far as I can remember, all the original speakers were 25w RMS.

read the sticky in the ice section or mounting depths and speaker sizes

rms is what you want to look at as that is the power out put 99.9% of the time just ignore peak

as said above start with a decent head unit then get a decent amp to power your speakers

component speakers are speakers that only play certain frequency ranges so there for you need separate speakers for the mids and high frequency's (tweeters)

im gonna request this to go to the ice section because you will probably get better replies

not being funny mate,

but all i want is replacement speakers for front doors and rear parcel shelf sides, and may aswel out new tweeters in.

Not really interested in expensive systems or amps and that, i just wanted a replacement set that are just a bit better than standard, if you know what i mean, just a straight swap over and get a bit more bass and clear sound

altho price aint to bad of above component system

nah wanting summat that looks good aswel, like wen tey come with ther own grill and that, cos im wanting to remove the plastic door grill and fibreglass it over into one panel with speaker showing.

The Infinties on budget win but you will need an amp and just mug off the rears. Sort the front out properly and it will be loud enough in the back. If you are gonna FG then build some mdf baffles so as to add loads of weight and stability for the woofers too kick off of. (y)

I know exactly what you're after, as its what I wanted as well. I was not interested in woofers, subwoofers, amps etc etc.
IMHO, thats for kiddies, and just serves to attract the boys in blue (and thieves) and to make you go deaf.

RMS = in very very simple terms, it is a mathematical formula that gives you the average power (this is a really simple explanation). This the value you ALWAYS need to look at, when looking at audio output.
Retailers always highlight the 'bigger' PMPO (peak music power output) value, as it makes the speakers (or whatever unit it is) sound better than it actually is.

The speakers you mention are rated 90w RMS. They should be more than adequate. It all depends on what headunit you are using, and its output.
A good rule of thumb you can use - whatever the RMS output of your headunit, install speakers that are at least the same output plus 20%.
The standard Fiat unit, if I remember correctly, is rated at 25w RMS.
The only thing you need to worry about, is the depth of these speakers. The original speakers are a bit shallow, but that can also be adapted with some patience. I think 44mm should be ok - can't remember.
Best way to shop, is to take one of the original speakers and measure it up.

p.s: I made a mistake regarding the size of the parcelshelf speakers. They are 100mm (not 80mm), and with an adapter you can fit 130mm.
