General Punto HGT 1.8 - opinions?

I've been looking at 00 and 01 HGT's and they are very affordable - anyone on here own one and prepared to comment on the experience? Is the 130bhp handled well by the car and what is reliability/servicing like?

I can only speak about my 03 HGT but have had no problems with it at all ( touch wood ) , I am not a very experienced driver but I have great pleasure out of driving it. Others much more experienced than me with cars have said it is quite a quick and enjoyable car to drive and have found it a nice drive.

I've had mine for just over a year now and "touch wood" ive also had no problems. its a 51 plate.

Its not THE quickest hot hatch around but it is very nippy indeed! Car handles well with sports suspension otherwise it would lean a little more on cornering. Some have compared to the 206 gti but im not so sure.

ABS & Traction control work well, though i do turn off the TC most of the time cos it grips the steering too much sometimes. I like to feel as if im driving the car not the computer.

I have fitted an induction kit and i use Shell Optimax (or equivelant) fuel which makes the car perform better and a little more MPG.
