It is always nice to have a little more torque , especially for hills or when fully loaded.

I have read here a useful mod can be to put a 1.1. or 1.2 8v Fire into a 1.0
4x4 Fire engined Panda, but keep the original dizzy and carb .

My question is will any Punto/Seicento 8v allow for the retrofitting of a 141A Fire carb and distributor? e.g. Just an early Mk1 Punto or any Punto?

The issue I imagine might be the distributor drive still being in the head in quite the same way?

I presume the carb inlet manifold would still bolt up ok but I could be wrong?

Your wisdom much appreciated oh wise ones.

Yes, 1.1 or 1.2 8v from P55 or P60 will work apart from fuel pump. P75 will need custom intake manifold as intake ports are bigger.

Carb and intake manifold would need to be from panda, exhaust manifold will need spacer or modified down pipe as the head is higher by 10mm. Carb will need to be re-jeted. Dizzy will bolt straight onto the head.

i am running a punto 75 engine in my panda however i am running it with all of the original punto electrics. so its still "fuel injection" :D

in all fairness, i didnt really notice much gains between the two engines. however the electronically controlled idle is really nice for manoeuvring as it auto revs the engine when under load if the throttle is not pressed down. (giving the impression that it has a lot more torque than it really has).. it works well.

Thank you both for replies, most helpful.

It leads to two final questions

Any tips for making the exhaust manifold 10mm spacer? (I don't imagine they are off the shelf)

Any guide for re jetting , or just the usual trial and error?

:)

take original manifold to downpipe gasket, let some company to lasercut,or watercut or etc.. it for you in 10mm thick steel? replace 3 manifold bolts with longer ones.

trial/error , or try jets from weber 34 tlp{ or the whole carb like I am going to do with 1.2 punto 75 engine}, the same family type of carb like fiats 32 tlf, but made for peugeot 205 with 1.4 engine, bit bigger jets, venturi, butterfly etc... the same family type of carbs were also in some vw polos, vw golfs, pugs 309 citroen bx-s etc cars. Weber 32 to 36 TL... type{ tlf tlp tld .....}

Actually there are factory jettings for the 32 tlf for the 1108, it ran with a carb in the Uno post facelift for a couple of years. The jets are actually nigh on identical iirc but I'll try and dig out the info, got a workshop manual in the garage somewhere. 1242 you'll have to guess a little. (1108 is the same block by the way so exhaust spacer only applies to the 1242 too)

i just cut the twin down pipe and welded in more pipe to make it longer. (from the punto down pipe that came with the engine when i bought it)
if you were going electronic, you could cut out the place when the lambda sensor goes on the original punto down pipe, then weld it into the panda down pipe :D
