Hi there everyone.First post on the site and I look forward to your knowledge pouring over me!
Not having much money has forced my friend and myself to look into the issue of the Dualogic gearbox on her punto not changing gear past 3rd.
It does the first three and also the reverse so with my limited knowledge would I be correct in saying it shouldn't be the selespeed unit as 1/2 solenoid works, 3/4 works as I get third and 5/R works as I get Reverse.
I know that simplifies it all but that is what is happening and I can only assume the above statement is a correct one?
The car received a new Magneti Marelli unit about a year before it was purchased by my friend,
When it went wrong (about 5 months after she bought it) she was advised to remove the old unit and fit a new one.
At a cost of £2500!!
I have found someone on eBay who can repair the units but before I send it off to him, I wonder if it needs that.
The quotation for the labour was over £1000 which is remarkable as to remove it took me about an hour and a half.
Not particularly fair on the garages part.
Upon inspection of the unit I have found that the new (to the car 18mths ago) Selespeed/Dualogic unit has been fitted with the old Hydraulic Sphere (I assume that's what the black accumulator looking sphere is?) along with the original pump from the cars original factory Selespeed/Dualogic.
My big question is although when the ignition is turned you hear the pump buzz into action, can it possibly run out of puff by the time it gets to change the gearbox from third onwards?
I know I have simplified it and I am sorry for any assumptions I have made but any help would be much appreciated as sending the car to the gearbox people at a cost of £2500 is an impossibility.
The car is too good to scrap as it has low owners of 3 and has only done 44000 with a full history.
Help!!
And thanks in advance guys.

What's the summary of your post? What you wanna do (what's the intent)? Repair this DIY style?
Go to YouTube, it's full of "DuaLogic" videos, repairs, etc. At least you can remove the unit yourself and send to repair.
Side note. Besides this unit (gear selector) it is still regular (manual) gearbox inside.

If not (if you'll do nothing, not single one bolt/nut), there's nothing you can do really, to make situation any better.
There is no "solution" but to pay someone to do everything.
