Hi,

I'm about to replacing my 2001 1.2 8V Punto battery.
I have read, that you cannot battery which has too much cold cranking amps,
because airbag system do not like it. Is this true?
I have looked at Exide EB500 battery, which has 450 CCA.

dunno about that but i removed 55ah+ batteries from puntos which were working fine, if you got 1.2 you cant even fit anything bigger than 44ah cuz that battery plastic box is not big enough, unless you remove it, hgt got bigger box

EB500 is 50AH battery.
I measured blastic box and it will fit in there.
Battery dimensions are: 207x175x190.

The solution can be like this.
The car is a Fiat Punto 1.2 8v MK2/2B 2004.
I bought this battery: 62Ah Battery.
Battery dimensions: 242x175x190 mm. And 62Ah (540A).
The battery size is.It doesn't fit directly. First, remove that useless plastic cover. Use pliers (if you have enough strength, if not, you can use a hammer) to bend the back edge straight. Then it fits.
Many problems disappeared at the same time, such as the power steering light sometimes not coming on and idling is smoother. And it starts very quickly.

Summary: 242mm long battery fits by using little modification.
And no problem with airbag system.

I am doing the same thing right now.. I am tired of 34 and 45 ah batteries.. The same problems on electricals time to time..
I will put an 63ah 620 CCA Batt

Hahahaha ;)

The system has been engineered to 'charge' the standard battery. It can't deal with it. It won't neither with the bigger battery. It will be damaged earlier.

Alternators are limited so they cannot produce the correct voltage because they are connected to vehicle systems, which simply are not able take that voltage.

Instead of putting extra money into batteries, learn how to charge them properly. And take care of them as it should be done.

The 12V batteries were engineered like 60 or 70 years ago, when the demand for electricity was much smaller. All the electric stuff installed in the modern vehicles they simply can't deal with.
