When turning on, the car cranks but the revs dont go up and it just shuts off. I tried lubricating the neutral gas thing in the engine bay(i dont know the correct name for it in english). Im thinking its the alternator or the thing that revs in neutral. Pls help

Hello, i've had similiar problem not so long ago.
In my case we studied various solutions. I'm not sure which one was it. You are mentioning that the car cranks but then the revs dont go up and it just shuts off. When i had this problem we did this:
Firstly we inspected the idle control valve if the problem was there. You can find it in the engine bay behind the throttle - it's black thing with a knob with cables going into it. Just check it with the key in the first position and push the little knob inwards and see if it pushes out easily. If not, replace it, and your problem should be solved.

There can be also different problem, which i also had. The engine speed sensor was KO. You can find it (from driver's POV) next to the right wheel in the engine bay a cable going straight onto ribbed wheel. Again replace and the problem should be solved.

There can be maybe a third problem but the diagnosis was different in my case... I turned the key to start the engine, but it just wouldn't hold the revs and would die instantly. We sprayed starting spray into the intake and the revs were going up, but as soon as we stopped spraying the engine died. So we replaced fuel pump along with fuel filter and Voila! The car could be started.

Try these solutions, maybe they will help ?
I also have Fiat Tipo 1.6 i.e and even though it has a lot of problems, i just can't say goodbye to my car.
Recently i've had a long lasting problem that the REVs were going between 850-1400 on idle. I had an O2 sensor changed and now the car is smoothly idling on 850.

Hopefully i could help you, if you're still looking for solution.
