Technical Power steering that doesn't register a code?

Hi all,

Is what it says really - I have had the common power steering fault, I have three code readers (all OBDII), none of which register any fault code when the power steering has failed.

No historical fault, no current fault.

Anyone had this?

what did you read the power steering ecu with?

The Powersteering system has be read through the canbus system i believe - SandB correct me if im wrong

IE you need the right software and correct cable setup to read it

Most generic off the shelf readers - WONT read the fault on it

maxiscan wont do it
not sure with your amazin product
however
i would rather get the appropiate kkl lead and the coloured lead needed for power steering and hard wire it into a usb port on a suitable windows based machine

Yes, I think KKL is what I meant when I was on about the three coloured wires. Couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called.

Perhaps I was doing something wrong with it, but couldn't scan the steering ECU at all.

Still, I shall have another go.

Get MES todo an auto detection run for your car - but ensure you have the correct lead tho
