How about a section for posts say 2 days old with no responses?

If such a thing is possible?

Some posts just get lost, usually because they've accidentally posted in the wrong section, or a quiet corner of the site.

That way some of the friendly folk on here could at least say hello to a new member who's got lost or give em a nudge in the right direction.

As with most forums of any kind you notice a lot of people coming on with a quick hello and never see them again. Excitement I suppose when they get the vehicle to sign up.
I would like to see a proper introduction on the Newbie forum before anyone is allowed to start a thread asking questions. And not simply
"Hello I'm George glad to be here"

Many have no interest long term or getting involved in the community and try to compile their introduction into a thread of questions.
Rather clever.

Missed a trick here, we should all have ignored this for three days.

I don't log on every day, but sometimes several times in one day. The emails prompt me to look at responses to threads I've posted to, then afterwards, I browse new threads. The thread title, and whatever shows when the mouse highlights it, will determine whether I read the post. This may be true for others. Often a post starts with a long paragraph of fluff, before getting to the point. I've probably lost interest before I get there.

I know others only peruse posts in their favoured section. Often, I may ignore a thread if I cannot add anything of value, diesel issues especially, as I've tended to stay away.

Like most things, the OP needs to find a title, and opening sentence that catch the eye, to gain a good response. This is difficult for most of us.

I could only find this option on my phone until this post, but now I can find it on my PC too!

It looks like most of the unaswered posts have had 30 or 40 views. A brief look at them suggests most of them are either questions for which google would be better, or are statements of some description, or don't give enough info for a reply to be useful.

😂That would have been a fascinating social experiment I'm sure.

Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting the site should demand we all respond to every random hello.

It was the unanswered questions I was thinking of.

Like the poor bloke I found who thought nobody on here knew anything about 128s until I could hoik porta and bugsymike over to help him out.

Or the French chap asking for 141 parts in a dusty corner of the MES register.

Well at least I know where to find them now 👍

Dear mods: please disregard my suggestion, it were a stoopid idea

I’ve noticed, wehn there’s been a flurry of new posts in a day, that many get missed as there’s two or three pages of newer posts in front…

I do look at new posts with zero responses and if I feel able, I will stick my nose in, usually pre 2012 and not any form of auto gear boxes. Though where there is a specific query that I know others on Forum are better able to answer I tend to stand back.:)
Apart from that there is the general filtering out, that some new posts warrant.

No a good idea but you just hadnt found the answer. I try to look for the unanswered and sometimes find things that are shouts for help but poorly titled and thus ignored, which is a shame as they dont get the attention they might.
