I used hammerite with a brush and it looked awful. Not so bad now cause I dont clean them so it hides the crap job I done

The liquid gel stuff for the black bits is good

A wire brush attachement on a drill to clean the wheel up inside and out (easier if there isn't a tyre on it) is what is needed. The clean it off to make sure there isn't any oil or crap to stop the paint bonding to the metal (carb cleaner / thiners / petrol etc..) Then either use spray or hand paint with hammerite (its what I used) and alow to dry. The key thing is a couple of thin coats. It covers well but if you give it two coats the 2nd coat gives an even brush mark free finish.

Once you are done use some spray clear coat to give it a nice protective finish and a shine.

The ones we did are here, https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-classic/104007-mk1-progress-2.html

In all it took about 5 hrs (including drying rub down and time) but then again it was a nice hot summer day.
