Thanks for the positive take, another forum I may be a member of may have started preaching about driving responsibly had I posted on there regardless of the circumstance, or even "ooooh the car will never be reet now"
Although the accident was around 30mph on a main road into kerb then ditch, the only impact was shrubs, bushes and a tree stump, no airbags fired. I do not think that this accident was dramatic enough to measure the cars strength. We are changing the continental brand slicks for winter grippy piece of mind though (something we have considered since ordering it, not because of the mishap)
I will tell you what though (as proven by the experience of rhubarb and custard and me of my insurer) you never know exactly how good your cover for breakdown or insurance is until you actually need it. Thinking back, my missus had the accident at 0550hrs and the call was taken by a third party call centre in some far away place as my insurer (can't name them as it would be unfair, and i am still with them!) didn't open till 0900hrs. The call centre didn't have a clue who we were and had to do the whole hog of detail like when you apply for insurance. We have only ever claimed twice (non fault before) and have never experienced this with other companies and these were out of hours.
As for being punished by premium increase for choosing my own repairer, I find that unlikely but we have lost 1 of 2 strikes on 10 years protected no claims and may well see a general increase in premium just due to claiming.
At the end of the day though, they have authorised the repair, and nobody got hurt so I should revert to my calm persona again.
Off topic slightly - I believe that the front panels arrived pre coloured from whoever manufactures them so the colour match will not be a problem
