Good evening,

I am struggling with trying to find a solution to my Fiat 500 and an oil pressure low sign. Let me explain.

2017 1.2 Lounge Dual Logic with 37k.

Have owned the car since late last year, with no issues. I have parked it up for a number of months. The battery went dead over the winter and was jump started. I received an engine management light and having used multiecuscan, it came up with oil pressure switch issue. I did clear the codes, and drove it around, 15mins later, same code appeared.

I have now swapped out the oil pressure switch. The engine management light disappeared, then I started to get oil pressure low in the speedo. The symbol would only come on when the car was stationary. As soon as the revs rise, it disappears.
I have given it a new oil filter and did an engine flush with new oil.
I have then driven the car uptown temp. but upon putting it into reverse, it then tells me oil pressure low again.

So in summary:
Oil pressure low comes on when car is upto temp.
Only comes on when stationary
New oil, filter and oil pressure switch

Can anyone offer any advice? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

Now if that was me, I'd have to remove the sensor and put an analogue pressure gauge in it's place. That way you'd know the real pressure which is what you really need to know before you can decide on a solution that suits you. Low oil pressure is a serious issue, so if it really is low and not just an electrical fault you're doing real damage by using it. If the analogue test shows a good oil pressure you can use it, but fix asap.
It maybe a sticky relief valve in the oil pump, I can't see it being a worn pump at that mileage.
