If the person who rebuilds engine didnt test it - i'd be claiming for the repair work due to there incompetence

you misunderstood
my thermostat stuck closed so the HG gone (for 3rd time).... i had 180.000 km so i did a fully rebuilt with some new cams and valvetrain ;)

I recently changed the thermostat when I noticed my punto was running cold, like 45 degrees after 23miles! I had a long journey conning up and had heard about stressing the head running cold. Read about the dodgy parts but bought eurocarparts gear anyway, cost me pennies and I'll just keep an eye on it.

Going to replace plugs and leads soon to fix lumpy/juddering at low revs, seems to be a common issue. :)

Forgot to say runs great with new therm bang on centre dial! :D 58.6mpg in the run so improved there also.

Its running . At the correct temp allowing correct fueling!

I lv my stat the fact i have heat and it stays

Suddenly realized, today, driving the Punto, that I'm no longer glancing quickly at the temperature gauge, every couple of minutes. After a couple of months of dead-centre steadiness, I am no longer paranoid.... What a great feeling...! :woot:

I too love my 'stat...!

Really need to get a new stat fitted on mine. What could be the potential problems (if any) if I wait and replace it in a few weeks time?

Wrightyy

Engine runs cold = Less performance
Engine runs rich = Crap fuel consumption
You freeze to death = Die while teeth chattering or catch a cold one of the 2
You waste more fuel as you wait for it to demist....

Super long term it'll wear the engine out faster,as its not been allowed to reach working temperatures

I've given blood (or changed the thermostat as some of you call it). Tested it last night and had a few dribbles to sort. Tightened the jubilee clips a little more and going to give it a proper leak test tonight. The thermostat was working lovely though so I am loving it.

For me - its always the bottom radiator clip

A pressure tester cofirms when i stemmed the leak tho :)

It seems that the radiator bottom hose was too much for the last place I had the car serviced. The jubilee clip wasn't even in the right place, never mind the right tightness. This is why from now on, with my car not being worth that much anyway, I'll just do it all myself.

Well, got to give the car a proper test today, no leaks, fast warm-up and rock-solid temperature management, so it was the thermostat as suspected. It's been a while since I've been this hands-on since my last Punto so I'm very pleased with myself. I also seem to grow more fond of a car once I've started tinkering personally.
