Does anyone in here have any experience with this or similar kit?
.. and if so, do you know if the obd2-usb-cable and the software (or other software) can be used for other cars?

Since i'm new in here i dont have permission to post links, so i'll have to kindly ask you to search ebay for theitem in question:
3 Pin OBD2 KKL VAG 409.1 USB+Fiat ECU Scan Diagnostic Interface for Alfa Fiat

If it's the 2.8 JTD then yes this will work. It won't work with the 2.8DS or 2.8 TDs as they don't have an ECU.
The interface will work with other Fiats which have KL compatability, which is most for basic fault codes and engine ECUs see http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

Note Fieat ECUscan is the old name. Download Multiecuscan from http://www.multiecuscan.net

It is listed as FIAT DUCATO (230_) 2.8 TDI, and i have found the 3-pin connector in the engine compartment.. and it has airbag, antitheft etc etc...

Another related question:
The reason for previous question is my airbag warning light that stays on after self-test.
From other posts its suggested there being some wiring in the driver seat related to the airbag.
I have found the wiring and its connector, and measuring voltage on the wiring shows 12 volt coming on with the ignition.
Ohming the circuit in the seat gives nothing, just open circuit either someone sits in the seat or not. The wires seems to go into the seat cushin and the back cushion both, connected in serial...
The connector is NOT the yellow type of connectors found elsewhere in the airbag wiring so i wonder if this actually has something with the airbag to do or not.
Could it also be just a faulty seat belt warning loom?

If connected to the airbag system, would there be any way to simulate its function to make the airbag-lamp swithc off? a resistor as suggested eklsewhere regarding seatbelt tensioner?

Hi,
Does the seatbelt warning work OK? If not you may have a broken seat switch. I don't know the logic of the early airbag system but might be connected. Multiecuscan should tell you which part of the circuit is at fault.

BE VERY CAREFUL WORKING ON THE AIRBAG SYSTEM!!!!!

You should not do any work or measurements (other than OBD) with the battery connected. Disconnect both positive AND negative battery terminals and wait 10 minutes before doing any work. When using OBD stay outside the car, you do not want a laptop in the face if the airbag goes off.
