Hi,
My car seems to be playing silly buggers this week.:cry:
It is suffering power loss (read no power) below 2000rpm. When accelerating either hot or cold below 2000rpm there is nothing, even in 1st & 2nd which is potentially dangerous and then it kicks in at 2k and takes off.
Any ideas on this one?
It's going in for new clutch tomorrow and I can't see how the 2 would be related.
thanks
Steve

Did yours suffer the same, nothing at all under 2k then everything would take off? Quite dangerous especially as I have a hill entrance onto a busy road and it didn't want to know. At the dealers for clutch an driveshaft as well at the mo.

Ours has just started doing this. Booked it in for tomorrow, but dealer reckoned there would be a warning light if the EGR wasn't working, ours has no warning lights. Has anyone else got any warning lights?

nope and when checked with examiner no fault showed. Am waiting for driveshaft to come from italy when it comes they'll test it under driving conditions

Ta for that. They have diagnosed ours as a mass air flow sensor, which they have ordered and expect in this morning. They mentioned changing the EGR valve aswell as this was outside parameters, though they reckoned this was due to the MAS problem. Should have it back later today ;)

Turns out the MAF sensor didnt fix it, so they blanked off the EGR and it runs ok. The EGR is now on back order :(

The new EGR valve turned up wednesday, and is booked in on monday to have it fitted. I must say it runs fine with the EGR blanked off, and if anything is slightly more economical without it (though may be down to the weather and driving slower!)

Most cars have better fuel consumption and drivers better with egr valves blanked off.I did it on my old Vectra V6 and it made a huge difference, only thing i found was it took longer for car to heat up in cold mornings but i could deal with that for better consumption!! lol

All done and fixed. The car was nicely washed aswell which was a bonus as it was filthy!! Its "running fine" according to the GF. :D

How would you know whether there might be a power problem ?? As a recent new owner of a Bravo Multijet 150 Sport I am paranoid that the previous driver(s) may have driven it eratically and so am wanting to ensure everything is all working as it should be. Having not owned one previously I don't have any benchmarks to make comparisons with and so as it is, is the way I assume it should be. Presumably the RPM do increase as you accelerate so how can you tell that there is a problem. I wouldn't say that mine accelerates noticably any quicker above 2000 rpm then it does below

Reasonable point. I would know instantly if I lost any appreciable amount of power at any revs, as I know my car well. But I would say on a 150 MJet you would suspect, you would think "huh WTF"? or similar. MJet power delivery is from around 1,700 rpm on the 8valver, probably 1,500 rpm on a 16valver... it would seem like sh*t warmed up if you had no power below 2,000rpm IMO.

Oh and dont nanny the car, give it a good blast and preferably some good long motorway runs at the speed limit whenever you can, or the EGR will fall out with you and coke up big style.

Trust me, when there's a problem you know about it, problems pulling away from lights under the extreme, if there is a huge kick at 2000rpm instead of a healthy one then EGR is suspect.
