Yep that be the brake fluid not a good idea to be topping that with power steering fluid...get back to us when you find another lid you might think needs topping up... I know you are desperate to crack open your tin of steering fluid, but in the meantime just think how long it is going to last you..plus the added security of having it tucked away in your boot in case you just so happen to need it

OK gentlemen, we've had a bit of a giggle at JayDKirk's expense, but none of us would want him to take his car apart looking for something that doesn't exist.

@JayDKirk The Stilo has electric power steering, not hydraulic, so doesn't need any power steering fluid. You can leave that out of the boot.

generally you don't "top-up" brake fluid, as it naturally drops as the fluid is displaced when the friction material wears,

when the pads are replaced the fluid is then fed back to the reservoir ( like 2 x linked syringes)

Brake fluid goes down as the pads wear, fit new pads and it goes back up. My 1.6 Stilo burnt about 1.5l of oil a month even after a head rebuild. The cure? A Volvo V70, doesn't use a drop.

Is one way to familiarise yourself with the car and adding some cheer to a cold n snowy night up here, from own experience of having the stilo wagon for 6 years I have only needed to put brake fluid in when doing work on the brake system, unless you have a fault / leak with brakes or clutch it does not go down, and if all is ok only a tiny amount over a very long period of time,, but still as previously advised weekly checks are always good to keep an eye on things, washer fluid and a litre of oil in my box of essentials in the boot for me. if you feel happier for having it handy is your choice on that

I know it has 4 wheels that's about it :/
Jokes I know a few Basics like oil and when to change the wheels when the tread gets two low apart from that I'd take it to the garage lol

P.s I don't like doing things myself incase I stuff it up, but I'll do the basic oil fill up and change wheels anything els is a no go

Hey none of us are perfect , we all good at one thing and scratch our heads about something else, sure you can change a fuse or something if needs be..

A good idea to find out when cam belt was done last and with what you are going to save on power steering fluid will go towards any garage bills
