General Newbie with a question

Hello everyone….
new driver and new car owner here and yes all done at a ‘mature age’ well still haven’t passed my test but car is arriving this month and I’ve been impatiently waiting for the past four months for my rose gold fiat 500e Icon to drive…. Now my question which might be common knowledge or easy or not available is that when ordering I opted to leave out the rear parking camera but now I want one when it’s too late to add and I’ve been looking at dash cams rear and front and wondered if they would work on the in car display system that comes with the icon? Do they all work with the CarPlay and appear on the screen or am I wishing for the impossble!

I would like one myself.. but charging requirements made me buy a petrol one

Probably a very good 1st car... the 500 was even a BSM learner car when pretty new

Any youve not even got a clutch..or gears.. to worry about

I’m learning with BSM at the minute, I needed the automatic due to disabilities I have issues with the gear stick … I don’t have a drive to get the home charging so it’s gonna be an issue but one I’ll use to my advantage I’ll do my charging and have to do a lot of extra shopping whilst it’s at the charging stations lol or use the house plug trying to track down a house with the lecky on the fiddle lol don’t hear of that much these days haha

Hi there and welcome. Fiat have played around with the specs since I bought mine. Audible parking sensors used to be standard kit on the Icon but now are an option. I believe these sensors can be retrofitted as they are available to purchase through Fiat accessories so may be an option for you.

I'm not so sure there is a plug and play solution for a rear camera broadcasting to the head unit via Apple CarPlay though. Someone with a bit more knowledge of the Fiat UConnect head units might have some suggestions on a workaround.

I don't have home charging either and only use public chargers all without too much hassle. I don't know what Liverpool's charging infrastructure is like but would suggest you download ZapMap and PodPoint apps for local charging locations and their costs to use. PodPoint is particularly handy as most Tesco superstores offer free charging for the maximum stay in their car park.

Thanks for the help, I haven’t downloaded those two apps yet I have a free subscription with BP pulse so I get money off think it’s like 20 or 40% because I wasn’t able to get a car charger installed but there is only one point close to me in a busy shopping retail park so I’ll defo download those now, Liverpool has a few charging points but mostly are down south liverpool (where the bigger houses are lol us poor end don’t get crap all!)
I think my icon comes with rear parking sensors but the camera was an added option it’s standard with the prima version but couldn’t justify the extra especially if I manage to somehow get a dash cam to appear on head unit, I’ve seen online that other cars with similar display systems that use apple car play have got their rear view camera to automatically appear on screen just hope it’s not a case of rewiring a whole system
