Whenever I've attempted DIY paint spraying, it's been the matt finishes which have given me the most trouble in getting consistent results; they seem to be particularly sensitive to solvent dilution & drying conditions. And you can't polish out any minor irregularities, either.

Also, I've found matt paint to be slightly porous & wonder just how durable this finish will be in the damp, salty UK winter climate. Especially if you can't wax it.

Hellooo
Im new to this forum, I got a new Fiat 500 Blackjack a couple of weeks ago, used to have a Fiat 500 pop in cha cha blue.

Hi Sarah, welcome :) I have a Blackjack which I picked up just before Christmas and I love it. It gets some fab head turns and as my first 500 I am very impressed.

ENJOY :D

I think they look great. The black wheels look good too. I'd put some on mine if i could afford it.

Yeah i know the feeling mate, i had enough for one extra thing, alloys, private plate or cat 1 alarm, naturally i chose the alarm and that will be the last thing i can afford to buy for her in a long time.

Hi Sarah, I am new to the forum too and have just ordered a blackjack. I think they are so unusual, looking forward to seeing people's reactions to it tbh. My partner is a car valetor and he is a little concerned about looking after the paint work. He is going to find out more about maintaining it so if he comes across anything useful I will be sure to post it up!

There is one for sale in my local dealer - complete with a scratch down the side (which was there 2 months ago too!). It's definately very marmite, I quite like the feel of it but don't think it would be for me - too dark :) It reminds me of my suede nail polish :D

Not too sure if the OP is still around but came across this that I thought might be of interest to her. It's a review by a Bob Flavin who advertises himself as ...
‘The Next Gear’
We are a bunch of car nuts who review cars in only the way we can, oh and we are Irish

Hopefully you will be able to understand his accent - he appears to be from Co. Meath.

You can do a search for Youtube Fiat 500 Twin Air Matt Black Jason Bourne or a slower link below...

(It's over 8 minutes long )
and it's quite topical at the moment with the release of the Twin Air & Twin Air plus.

I ordered a matt black but got a phone call to say they've stopped making them so you should be quite exclusive. Althought there is one down my street now with red leather so maybe a blessing in disguise that i didn't get one.

Why do people say you cant wax matt black? what would happen? it's not gonna turn it gloss!

If you 'click' on the video on the link below it states 'No need to Shine'

So - what will you do now ?

Will you hunt around for a matt black one or would the new spec Twin Air or Twin Air plus fit the 'bill' ?
