Hi There , first off I'm new here and a few months into owning my first ever Fiat Panda and its my first ever car as well . November just gone I bought a 56 plate fiat panda active 1.1 . So far ive enjoyed owning it and not had any real problems with it apart from the lack of cigarette lighter socket which I had an auto electrician I know fix at mates rates . Prior to this ive owned a few motorbikes and have done a fair few jobs on them so im not afraid to do little jobs here and there on the car .

The two things however I would like some advice on are fitting a thermometer with an inside and outside temperature display . And fuel economy .

Ive bought this thermometer and it has a probe that needs to go to an outside location .Its going to sit on the center console above the radio . My first thought was to route the cable in the radio opening , and then somehow round the back of the dashboard and through the cable run into the drivers door and then put it in the drivers mirror . Or I could route it the other way and put it in the passengers mirror . But does that sound like a sensible idea , and would that lead to a relatively accurate reading for the outside temperature ? .

The second thing is fuel economy . Since getting the car in November I am coming to the end of my third tank of fuel . Each time I fill up im putting 29 litres in. It seems my fuel light comes on when there is 6 litres left not 5 .And for that I am getting around 240 miles to the tank . That gives me 37mpg . Now most of my journieys are short urban ones . Does that sound right ?Especially given that the car is up for its service around the middle of next month

The thermometer external sensor on Pandas with Climate control have the sensor in the passenger mirror, so that seems a fair place to put it. If the sun is out, it'll lie about the temp though.............

As for economy - sounds about right. That is to say, the same as we get for our Panda 100hp (36-37 mpg) and less than on our 1.2 69bhp Dynamic (44-45 mpg).
