Bought a Panda Selecta a few weeks back in Middleborough as i have many happymemories of the panda 45s that i used for the summer of 91 in south of Spain, and because it is so simple it can't be that expensive to keep on the road. However that was before i got it home and had a closer look... crash damage to the front and back.

So I will be looking to renovate it back to a condition that i think is accptable over the next few months. Funds permitting... and rust come to think of it.

anyway that was the intro... look forward to joining in.

Hi Tony,

Welcome to the forum thou I feel strange saying that as I've not been here to many months myself.

Hope you enjoy your selecta, I've one too (he's called AsBo) and like yours he's been through the wars too but it adds to the charactor of running an old car.

Just out of interest, do you know when the last time the oil and filter was changed on the gearbox? It adds to the lifespan and it's the one bit of the car that's far from simple and you really don't want to ever have to fix! The other thing is the calipers/brakes. There unique to the Selecta and again it's a good idea to keep an eye on them incase there starting to get sticky as the're an expenisve part compared to the standard panda.

Other than that, there great little cars and so much better built than older pandas and very driveable too. :D

Anyway, all the best with it and I'm sure there'll be a few more messages along soon.

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. Any pictures of your Panda?

Hi Steve and folks in general, The answer to the question is yes... I have been documenting how the car looks. From it's interesting upholstery with that wet dog smell (do they all go this way if they get wet inside?).

I know there are panda pureists knocking around, but to be fair this car doesn't look to swish as standard (it's not even the original shape anymore). So i will be changing certain aspects as soon as i can afford it. The list is something like this.

Wheels
Brakes
Body work (back to metal)
Colour (some silver)
Plastic side trim kit
Oh and 2 seats that are not bent out of shape

Somewhere in the middle of this sort out a driving license (I have been on a bike for 10+ years).

All this by November.

Erm... Thats a lot of work!

BTW, does it have a sun roof (the glass type)? Just they tend to let the water in and the seats start smelling like mens public loos... (I think fiat designed it that way)

...and don't worry, the 'panda purests' only come round to your door in white hoods and buring sticks if you threaten a 4x4 or Sisley! :D
